A jury has been sworn in for the trial of an accountant accused of murdering her husband at an airport hotel.

Carol Croydon, 37, is accused of killing Philip Edward Croydon, 49, at the Hilton East Midlands Airport Hotel, Kegworth, Leicestershire.

Staff found the body of Mr Croydon, who lived with his wife at Paddock Close, Edwinstowe, Nottinghamshire, in a bedroom in April last year.

Mrs Croydon, a partner in her husband's upholstery firm, denies murder.

A jury of five men and seven women was sworn in for a judge at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday for the trial, which is expected to last three weeks.

The jury was told she was charged with murdering Mr Croydon on a day between April 24 and 27 last year.

Wearing a navy blue suit, white blouse and glasses, she sat in the dock throughout the short hearing before the case was adjourned.

It will be opened by prosecutor Timothy Spencer QC on Tuesday.
