A mother who was cleared on appeal of killing her babies is to claim compensation from the government.

Angela Cannings from Salisbury, served 20 months in prison for the murder of two of her baby sons.

The 40-year-old always maintained the boys were victims of cot death.

Her legal team are not revealing how much compensation she is seeking.

On Friday, she criticised Professor Roy Meadow, an expert witness in her court case, for "assuming" she was a killer.

The professor is to face a General Medical Council professional conduct committee over allegations against him.

Speaking on ITV1's Tonight with Trevor McDonald programme, Mrs Cannings said she had been "permanently scarred" by her experience.
