City leaders in Liverpool are visiting the site of a proposed £20m school that has sparked opposition because it threatens park land.
Council planning committee members were due to decide whether to grant planning permission for the site on Monday.
If it gets the go-ahead the current plans for Kensington Academy will encroach on part of Newsham Park.
The park is one of the city's oldest and while residents back the idea of a new school they say the site is wrong.
Most of the site is currently occupied by a city council depot and visiting councillors are set to consider the effect putting the school on it would have on the area.
It would also give council officials the opportunity to discuss the plans, in more detail, with members of the public.
