Jungle show poised for take-off
The 10 contestants on the third series of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here are preparing to begin their stay in the Australian jungle on Monday night.

Famous faces who are taking part in the ITV programme include John Lydon from the Sex Pistols and former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond.

Programme makers have denied that Lydon - known as Johnny Rotten in his punk heyday - has already quit the show.

The contestants will be filmed 24 hours a day and face a series of challenges.


Pop divas to greet London fans

Pop stars Britney Spears, Beyonce and Pink are to meet fans in London's Trafalgar Square on Monday evening.

The trio will be at the capital's famous landmark for the world première of a drinks commercial in which they have all taken part.

Rock band Queen, whose anthem We Will Rock You is used in the advert, will play at the event.

Fans are expected to gather outside the National Gallery at 1800 GMT to see the three chart-topping divas.


AC/DC wins Australian music poll

Veteran rockers AC/DC are responsible for the best Australian song, according to a poll to mark celebrations for the country's national day.

Their hit Highway To Hell beat Need You Tonight by INXS into second place.

Rolf Harris's 1960s novelty tune Jake The Peg came in fourth in the poll organised by Virgin Radio.

Natalie Imbruglia finished eighth with Torn, but none of pop queen Kylie Minogue's seven UK chart toppers made the list's top 10.


France honours Madonna's career

Madonna's musical longevity has been honoured at France's biggest music awards ceremony in Cannes.

Receiving the NRJ career award, Madonna said: "My ambition may be American, and I may have married a Brit, but my heart belongs to France."

Britney Spears presented the award but the pair did not repeat the public kiss of last year's MTV Video Music Awards.

Dido was named best international female artist and international artist of the year at the event on Saturday.


Singer sent back to detox centre

Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland has been ordered to return to a residential drug detoxification centre after leaving early.

The 36-year-old was told to attend Grandview in Pasadena, California, for six months after pleading no contest to possession of heroin last October.

But he left the facility after one month, the Los Angeles County district attorney's office said.

Weiland returned to Grandview on Friday and is eligible for release in July.


Jackson's car pulled off auction

Singer Michael Jackson's luxury customised car was removed from auction on the weekend after the pop star told auctioneers he wanted the sale postponed.

The vehicle was supposed to be sold at the Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. The auction was to have ended on Sunday.

Jackson's representative told the company on Thursday they wanted the sale delayed.

The Bentley Arnage Red Label Turbo, which was featured in the video for Jackson's song What More Can I Give. The ceiling of the car has been singed by Jackson and several other celebrities.


'Jazz academy' offers showcase shows

British jazz students are being offered the chance to play one of the top jazz venues in London.

The competition is launched this week, with heats in five places across the UK, including Leeds College of Music, Birmingham Conservatoire and Trinity College in London in March.

Students will be invited to play a solo piece of their choice in front of a panel of jazz experts.

The winner will play a show at the PizzaExpress Jazz Club in Soho, as well as winning a £1,000 cash prize.
