What the Scottish papers say
The peer leading the inquiry into the Holyrood fiasco has written to the newly-installed acting chairman of the BBC, demanding transcripts of crucial interviews which senior managers at the corporation's Scottish headquarters have refused to hand over, writes The Scotsman.

The Herald says that Scotland's police forces are creating an official scheme which will have minor offenders placed on a national register and given a reprimand rather than being reported to the procurators fiscal.

Both papers also carry the story that Andrew Gilligan, the reporter whose notorious broadcast was central to the Hutton Inquiry, has resigned from the BBC.

The Daily Record claims that a woman trusted to look after a much-loved pet horse turned it into sausages.

A marine engineer has walked free from court after being cleared of causing the deaths of four people in a road accident, writes The Press and Journal.

The Times says cannabis users face 'postcode policing' because of widespread confusion over the legal downgrading of the drug.

And Abi Titmuss, the girlfriend of John Leslie, is to front a TV porn channel, according to The Scottish Sun.
