University opens new institutes
Three new institutes are being officially opened at Keele University's medical school on Monday.

A special ceremony is being held to launch the Institute of Primary Care and Health Sciences, the Institute of Ageing and the Institute for Science and Technology in Medicine.

The Institute of Ageing will bring together a large body of work that has already been done by experts at Keele.

Some of the areas that academics have been investigating include how we get on with our relatives as we get older and the disabilities and illnesses that affect people in later life.

The University's chancellor Professor Sir David Weatherall, who is described as one of the outstanding British clinician scientists of his generation, will give a speech about his area of expertise.

There will also be presentations by the heads of the three new institutes

The ceremony takes place Faculty of Health at 1500 GMT.
