YEDL are ready to implement their 'emergency plan'
A power supplier says it is ready to deal with any disruption caused by the region's predicted "cold snap".

Yorkshire Electricity Distribution (YEDL) says restoring supplies would be a priority if any areas are cut off.

Colder weather has spread south during Tuesday and snowfall is expected in many areas across the region during the night.

Bad weather over the New Year cut power supplies to thousands of homes in North and East Yorkshire.

As well as devising an emergency plan to minimise disruption, YEDL is also advising customers on what to do if they suffer power cuts.

Some of the guidelines include keeping electrical appliances turned off, using torches as a safe alternative to candles, staying in one room and wrapping up warm.
