Man badly hurt in hit-and-run
A pedestrian is in a serious condition in hospital after he was run over on a pelican crossing by a car that failed to stop.

Manjit Singh, 38, was hit at the junction of St Paul's Road and Mallin Street in Smethwick, West Midlands, on Friday evening.

Officers are searching for the vehicle involved, which is believed to be a dark Volkswagen Golf.

Mr Singh was knocked down about a mile from the scene of another hit-and-run incident in which teacher David Evans was killed.

The 55-year-old was run over on a pedestrian crossing outside Shireland Language College on Waterloo Road on Tuesday.

Inspector Peter Rattenbury said police want to hear from anyone who saw the latest incident.
