Investigation into train 'separation'
GNER train
GNER said they are investigating why it happened
An investigation is under way into how two carriages on a passenger train came apart on the East Coast main line.

GNER said the incident happened at 1355 GMT on Saturday, just north of Grantham, in Lincolnshire.

The train was travelling between Aberdeen and Kings Cross at the time.

A spokesman for GNER said no-one was injured in the incident.

He said the it happened after the conductor pulled the emergency cord in response to an unknown report from a passenger.

As the brakes were applied, coaches G and F became separated while the train was travelling at a slow speed.

All passengers in the back coaches got into the front coaches and travelled to Grantham, where they changed trains and carried on to London.
