Taxi passenger dies after crash

A taxi passenger died on Saturday night after the vehicle was involved in an accident with another car in Northampton.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said the crash happened at 1930 GMT at the junction of Gloucester Avenue and Cambourne Close.

A Peugeot 405 Estate private hire taxi was involved in a collision with a VW Golf being driven by a local woman.

The male taxi driver, his two passengers and the second driver were rushed to Northampton General Hospital where one of the passengers died shortly afterwards.

None of the people involved in the crash has been named.
