Woman driver assaulted in city
The police in Carlisle are hunting a man who assaulted a female driver after flagging her down on a city street.

It happened on Brampton Road in the Stanwix area at about 2100 GMT on Friday.

Two men signalled for the white Peugeot 406 to stop and when the woman pulled over, she was attacked by one of them.

The men, both described as in their late teens or early 20s, then ran off along Brampton Road, away from the city.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said one of the men was described as 5ft 10in tall, of stocky build, with short dark hair, and was wearing black trousers and black shoes.

The second man is described as 5ft 8in, slim, and was wearing light jeans and a grey hooded top

Anyone with information is asked to contact police in Carlisle.
