A man was arrested for possessing an imitation gun after he was spotted on a bus in Eastbourne.
Sussex Police said it was the first arrest in the county made under new legislation brought out making it an offence to carry an imitation firearm.
Police said they were alerted by the bus company after members of the public told the driver they had spotted the man with a gun tucked down his waistband.
He was asleep on board the single decker bus which was parked at Langney Shopping Centre.
Area cordoned off
Six armed police officers were called to the scene at about 1400 GMT on Friday and the area around the bus was cordoned off.
The 33-year-old man was arrested by the armed officers and the imitation weapon was found on him.
He was arrested under the anti-social behaviour act and taken to Eastbourne Police Station.
Police said on Saturday the man had been cautioned and released.
