Police are appealing for witnesses
Three teenagers being questioned over the death of a 17-year-old found beneath a footbridge in Gloucester have been released on police bail.

The injured youth, who has been named as Gareth Jones from Churchdown, was found lying in the middle of the road on the A417 Barnwood bypass in the early hours of Saturday.

He was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital but died soon afterwards.

A police spokesman said officers were still piecing together the events leading up to the death and at this stage were keeping an open mind.

He said they were working closely with the family of the teenager who died.

Three youths from Churchdown aged 16, 17 and 18 were released on Sunday after being held at Cheltenham police station.

The bypass was closed for several hours on Saturday while inquiries continued .

The stretch of the road where the youth was found was between the Walls and the C and G roundabouts.

Officers appealed for anyone who saw the youth in the area or who has any other information which could help the investigation to contact them.
