Gun cartridges alert at airport
Glasgow Airport
The find was made in a departure lounge
A security operation has been launched after spent shotgun cartridges were found at Glasgow Airport.

Passengers in the waiting area were asked to return through security gates.

A Strathclyde Police spokeswoman said the alert was put in place on Friday night, but that flights departing and landing were not disrupted.

It is thought the two cartridges, found in a waste paper bin, belonged to a shooting party which had passed through the airport earlier.

One flight to London Heathrow was delayed by an hour.

The airport duty manager declined to comment but confirmed that an area had been screened.
