Girl gets to train with Beckham

A girl is jetting off to Spain to train with David Beckham and the other stars of Real Madrid after winning a footballing competition.

Katie Waddell made a video showing off her skills and told Beckham she would be "his posh" for the day.

Now she is off to the Spanish capital, making all the boys in her football team jealous.

She said: "I'm really excited, I cannot wait. I'm just looking forward to meeting him."

Katie, who first starting playing when she was four-years-old, plays alongside boys for a team in Nottingham.

She told BBC East Midlands Today how she won the competition, which was run by CBBC.

"I said that I'll be his posh for the day. I went for trials for a professional club but they said they wouldn't have me because I'm a girl."

She does, however, play and train with a boys team.

He father, Stuart, said: "Initially a couple of years ago when we first started she used to get a few raised eyebrows and a few comments.

"But she is so well known among the sides now locally they just treat her as another player now."

Katie, who has a poster of the England captain on her bedroom wall, said: "I would like him to teach me a few more skills and how to bend it like Beckham."
