A man arrested in connection with the murder of a 40-year-old man found virtually decapitated has been released without charge.
The body of Colin Johnson was discovered at his home in Pickering Road in the Pennywell area of Sunderland on 17 January.
Northumbria Police officers were called to the house at 2230 GMT.
His girlfriend had found his body on the living room floor.
On Friday night police said a local man, who had been arrested on Wednesday, had been released without charge.
A mobile police unit was set up in Pickering Road during the week.
