Two escape as building collapses
The collapsed building
There are fears the next door property could fall down as well
Two men escaped unhurt when the building they were working on collapsed.

The owner of the Victorian terraced property in the Hanover district in Brighton was one of those who escaped unscathed.

One man was inside the house in Toronto Terrace when he heard a loud cracking sound.

Fire crews went to the scene to make sure there was no-one trapped inside and roads around the area were cordoned off.

'Heard a smash'

Next-door neighbour, Lorne Rawlings, was working on his house when the incident happened.

He said: "I was literally painting the wall behind when I heard a smash and I came running down the stairs ."

He said he saw one of the men run out and a cloud of smoke.

The other man working on the house was out in the yard when the collapse happened, he said.

Now there are fears that neighbouring properties are also at risk of falling down.
