Asian Bird Flu

As the EU baned all imports of poultry from Thailand we explored the science behind the scare. Should we all be concerned that we are just one genetic mutation away from some kind of pandemic? Or, like the recent report into chemicals in farmed salmon, following on from e-coli, salmonella, BSE, vCJD and Foot and Mouth, has the British public become so inoculated against food scares that it will take more than a bird flu outbreak in Thailand to scare us witless this time?

Prison Suicides

We had an exclusive report from inside the women's prison at Styal in Cheshire on the day that the Government has published its response to an investigation into the high level of inmate suicides.
