Jobs going with switch to China
More jobs are being lost in Norwich, as a company moves production to China.

When Diamond H Controls on Vulcan Road closes, 140 workers will lose their jobs.

About 60 of the 200 people who work at Diamond H will be kept on to work at a smaller base.

The company, which thermostats for the gas and electricity industry, will transfer operations to China over the next six months.

Diamond H managing director Clive Poynter said it made good business sense to relocate as they tried to plan for the future of the business.

"You can't compete against the manufacturing costs in China.

"They are about an eighth of what they are in the UK," he said.

It is another blow for the city, which this week lost 250 jobs at Laurence Scott and Electromotors.
