Foundry dust 'is health risk'
Chamberlain & Hill foundry on Chuckery Road, Walsall
Locals commissioned a private report into the foundry
People living near a Black Country foundry say it is covering their homes in a black powdery substance and posing a risk to their health.

Residents of Chuckery in Walsall held a meeting on Thursday night to discuss the Chuckery Road foundry, which they say has been making their lives a misery for years.

The main talking point was a private report commissioned by local people, which they say shows the dust to be a potential health hazard.

Chamberlain and Hill, which owns the foundry, has declined to comment on the matter.

Council investigation

Campaigner Mehboob Matloob said: "This black dust was eating into car paintwork - at the same time we were getting problems where it was eating into uPVC.

"That was what actually brought us this concern - if it is metal filings then obviously we're actually embedding these into our lungs."

Walsall Council sent representatives to Thursday's meeting.

They have promised to do everything they can to investigate.
