Paul Lewis talked to the Financial Services Authority (FSA) about the financial risks it believes will affect borrowers and savers in 2004, following the publication of its annual risk projection.
In Financial Risk Outlook 2004, the regulator has highlighted the need for consumers to take responsibility for their own financial affairs and plan for the future.

It also urged that people carefully consider the level of debt they take on while commentators predict rising interest rates and continued low levels of inflation.
And it stressed that consumers should not put undue reliance on property as an investment given the unsustainable nature of the market.
