A 36-year-old man has been remanded in custody by magistrates after being charged in connection with an incident where a white transit van was driven into a Cardiff police station.

He is charged with causing damage with intent to endanger life or being reckless as to whether life would be endangered, assault, dangerous driving and refusing to take a breathalyser test.

Nobody was hurt but the reception area of Fairwater police station was extensively damaged during the incident in the Norbury Road station at 2200 GMT on Thursday.

A second man, aged 23, who had also been arrested, has been released without charge.

Mr Cody, who was wearing a green T-shirt and jeans, was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Cardiff magistrates again on Monday.
