Deputy to investigate park problems
Battle of Flowers competition
The Association wants to switch the funfair to the People's Park
A Jersey politician who represents people living near People's Park wants the police and parents to help tackle anti-social behaviour in the neighbourhood.

Deputy Jackie Huet plans to spend a weekend seeing the problems for herself.

Residents raised concerns about anti-social behaviour after the Battle of Flowers Association proposed moving its funfair from the Lower Park to People's Park.

They claim young people have been causing trouble and creating a lot of noise at the weekends.

Box of needles

Deputy Huet said she believed the problem had been going on for about two years.

"The park keeper tells me that every week he picks up bottles and cans from the park.

"He also had a whole box full of needles he had collected.

"Who is going to use the park if it is like that all the time? Are you likely to take your children there?"

Deputy Huet said the parish was unable to provide more honorary police for the area.

She said that once she had seen the problem for herself, she wanted to involve parents and police in an attempt to tackle it.
