Man rescued from burning building

A man has been rescued and a dog killed in a fire at a building in Hertfordshire.

Firefighters were called to a three-storey building in Upton Road, Watford, just before 2000 GMT on Thursday.

They found a man trapped inside the building.

He was rescued and taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

Crews were unable to save a dog from the fire.

An investigation into the cause has started.
