Simpsons top 'dream' TV schedule
The Simpsons
The Simpsons is joined by shows like Casualty
The Simpsons and Only Fools and Horses feature on a "dream" TV schedule chosen by the readers of Radio Times.

BBC drama Casualty and ITV1's A Touch of Frost also featured on the list, drawn from 13,000 votes. The schedule begins with The Simpsons at 7pm.

"The inclusion of The Simpsons really demonstrates the cross-generational appeal of the show," said Radio Times editor Gill Hudson.

The fantasy schedule also includes a news bulletin at 10pm.

Viewers were given the chance to choose five programmes - all of a hypothetical 30 minutes' duration - from seven different categories for the fictional night's television on "RT TV".

Participants were also asked to pick their favourite time slot for the evening news bulletin.

"The BBC will also be pleased that viewers have endorsed their decision to move the nightly news bulletin to ten o'clock," Ms Hudson said. A film follows the TV news on the fantasy schedule.

The competition was part of the magazine's 80th anniversary issue last week.

Other surveys posed by the magazine recently included asking its readers which TV character they missed the most. The poll picked Doctor Who - who is returning to TV in 2005.

A statement said: "Radio Times will be ensuring that terrestrial station controllers receive the dream schedule in the hope that a channel will screen the line-up in the future."
