Safe stolen in smash-and-grab

Ram raiders reversed a four-wheel-drive vehicle into the window of a jeweller's shop and stole a safe from inside.

The gang broke into Greens of Montpellier in Cheltenham at 0210 GMT on Thursday, using a Jeep Cherokee to smash through the front of the store.

They loaded the safe into a dark Audi or VW estate car before driving off in it and a black Porsche.

Police investigating the theft are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

The jeep was abandoned outside the shop in Montpellier Walk as the thieves made their getaway.

Officers are still trying to establish what was in the safe and whether anything else was taken from the store.
