Britannia members' windfall boost

More than a million Britannia Building Society members are to receive a profit share bonus worth on average £38 each.

Depending on how much they save, borrow or invest, members earn points which entitle them to a share of the profits.

This year members of the UK's second largest building society will share £42m, with 80,000 receiving a windfall in excess of £100.

The profit share has been in operation since 1997 and to date members have scooped windfalls totalling £330m.
