New flats could be demolished
A block of 11 new flats in Stoke-on-Trent could be pulled down because the developer has failed to honour a number of planning conditions.

The flats form the second phase of a planned four-phase development at Forest Edge in Sneyd Green.

Planning permission has been granted, but was subject to 10 conditions, none of which have been complied with, according to planners from Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

Members of the council's planning department said they were concerned the development was too close to a former landfill site.

Enforcement action

They also say a public footpath has been blocked off and the car park is not secure.

Planners now want to start a process which could lead to the block's demolition.

Some of the flats are already being offered for sale, and officials say it would be fairer to take enforcement action against the present developer than against any future owners.

The development will be discussed at Stoke-on-Trent Development Control Committee on 8 January.
