Cash boost to put county in touch
A bid to bring broadband to Herefordshire has received a £2m boost.

The money was secured by the Herefordshire Partnership through the European Regional Development Fund and will make broadband services available throughout the county.

The Herefordshire In Touch programme will receive £2m in addition to the £1.6m already approved by Advantage West Midlands.

Broadband gives web users an "always on" connection with fast downloading speeds of about 512Kbps.

Around 80% of the population in the UK has access to broadband but in Herefordshire only 27% has access.

It is hoped the extra money will ensure the county's rural businesses can remain competitive into the future.
