A teenager accused of murdering his father after a man was found dead at a house in north Kent has been remanded in custody.

Luke Onyett, 18, appeared before magistrates in Chatham on Boxing Day morning.

He is charged with murdering his father, 49-year-old Michael Onyett, whose body was found at an address in Cobham Street, Gravesend, after police were called to the house at 2030 GMT on Monday.

A post-mortem examination revealed Mr Onyett, of Cross Lane, Gravesend, died of multiple stab wounds.

Luke Onyett, who is unemployed, was remanded until 29 December, when he is due back in court.

A Kent Police spokeswoman said a 47-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident had been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
