Abandoned baby's mother sought
Baby Holly
Holly was found abandoned early on Christmas Eve
Police are continuing their search for the mother of a baby who was found abandoned in a Liverpool street.

The seven-day-old girl was discovered in the Walton area of the city at 0710 GMT on Wednesday.

She was later taken to Alder Hey Childrens' Hospital, where staff christened her Holly.

On Friday Merseyside Police said they still had no idea about the identity of her mother.

Holly was found in Keith Court, off City Road, by a man who was on his way to work when he heard crying.

Medical attention

At first he thought it was a cat, but on closer inspection realised it was the girl, who was wrapped in a cot blanket.

He took her to a police station where officers called paramedics to check her over.

She is believed to have been well looked after before she was abandoned.

On Wednesday police said Holly's mother might need medical attention.

A spokeswoman said: "Holly is a lovely little girl and we want to be able to reunite her with her parents."
