Warning to Christmas walkers
Walkers
Walkers are advised to leave their car in full view
People walking off their Christmas excesses in the Thames Valley countryside have been warned not to become the victims of crime.

Thames Valley Police say criminals often target cars that have been left by walking trails such as the Thames Path.

They have issued a number of tips to follow if you want to make your car more secure.

These include parking your car where it can be seen, not to leave newly-acquired presents in view and to watch out for suspicious characters.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said: "Criminals don't stop for Christmas but there are some simple measures you can take to make sure you don't become one of their victims.

"Take a few common sense precautions when you are out after Christmas Day so that it is not just indigestion you suffer."

In addition they recommend carrying valuables with you, and if you are the victim of a crime, make sure you have the exact location.
