A 21-year-old man has been remanded in custody charged with a series of armed robberies across south Wales.

Garry Wayne Collins appeared before magistrates in Reading on Wednesday morning.

He will next appear before Reading Crown Court on 2 January.

On Tuesday, 27-year-old Mark John Davies, from Briton Ferry, was remanded in custody charged with carrying out five armed raids.

Mr Davies, from Briton Ferry, is accused of two raids in Buckinghamshire, one in Creigiau in Cardiff, one in Usk, and another near Neath.

During a hearing at Newport Magistrates Court on Tuesday, Mr Davies was scheduled to appear at Newport Crown Court on 9 January.

He was arrested in London on Saturday by Gwent Police officers with assistance from the Metropolitan Police.

The arrests followed a combined effort by South Wales, Gwent, Dyfed-Powys, Thames Valley and the Metropolitan Police.
