A 91-year-old woman has been seriously sexually assaulted in her own home.
An intruder broke into her home in Pinkerton Road, Basingstoke, Hants, at about 1300 GMT on Tuesday.
He dragged the pensioner into the hall of her house before sexually assaulting her and punching her in the face.
The victim was taken to the North Hampshire Hospital but later released after treatment, a police spokesman said.
The woman described her attacker as a young, white man with blond hair.
Acting Detective Inspector Michael Scott said: "This was a particularly grotesque attack on a vulnerable woman and we want the public to help us identify the person responsible so we can ensure this sort of incident, thankfully very rare, does not happen again."
