Woman dies in Christmas Eve crash
A young woman was killed in a road accident in Essex on Christmas Eve.

The crash happened on the A12 near Colchester just before 0700 GMT on Wednesday.

An Essex Police spokesman said a Ford Escort appeared to have left the dual carriageway and crashed into trees as it travelled towards Colchester.

The accident happened between the Marks Tey and Stanway junctions of the A12.

Emergency services were called to deal with the incident.

The driver, who has not been named, was certified dead at the scene.

The road was closed while police investigated the accident.
