Hotel fire
There were reports of people trapped in the building
An investigation is under way into a major fire in a hotel at a Norfolk seaside hotel.

Nine fire engines and 45 firefighters were called to tackle the flames at the Donna Doone Hotel in Great Yarmouth after residents were reported to still be in the building.

The flames were believed to have started in the roof space of the three-storey hotel, close to the resort's Golden Mile, at about 1850 GMT on Tuesday.

Two crews from Great Yarmouth were at the scene within minutes and all residents of the hotel, which is used as a boarding house, were soon accounted for.

Fire crews from Gorleston and Lowestoft helped to bring the flames under control at about 2000 GMT.

Thermal imaging cameras were used to search the hotel after reports that some people could be trapped.
