Religious posters prompt warning
The poster
Trading Standards said is has not been able to contact the company
Warnings have been issued in Medway over religious posters being sent through the post with a price tag attached.

A company with only a PO box number has sent out the posters, which has a poem about Jesus, with a demand for £4.99.

There are fears some vulnerable people could feel they have to pay for the product which has been put through their doors.

Trading standards officials in Medway say the method is not illegal, but they have advised residents they are not obliged to pay.

I know it is a request, but if someone is perhaps a little bit vulnerable they may consider it to be more of a demand
Veronica Panting, resident
Gavin Wilder, Medway Council public protection officer, said: "People do like to give to charities and what we would say to someone receiving something like this is they do not have to pay the company sending them the gifts.

"But there are a number of charities out there that if they did want to give to a good cause they may want to forward money to."

Veronica Panting, who received one of the posters, said: "They are sending me a product up front that I have no knowledge of, that I didn't want, with a request for £4.99.

"I know it is a request, but if someone is perhaps a little bit vulnerable they may consider it to be more of a demand than a request."

Trading Standards has not been able on contact the company, but said it would take action if anyone receives a demand for the money.
