Alleyway assault victim dies
A murder investigation has been launched in Suffolk after a woman died following an assault in an alleyway.

The 25-year-old was found by Ipswich police in the alleyway off Alderman Road - close to Ipswich Town's football ground.

Officers were sent to the scene at 0120 GMT on Tuesday after being alerted by a member of the public.

The woman was taken to Ipswich Hospital in a critical condition after being assaulted and left unconscious.

Man arrested

On Tuesday afternoon Suffolk Police said she had died.

A spokesman added the incident was now being treated as murder.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Suffolk Police said they would like to hear from anyone who was in the Alderman Road area in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
