A 53-year-old woman from Littlehampton has appeared before a judge accused of murdering her next-door neighbour.
Theresa Derekis, of Eastham Road, appeared at Lewes Crown Court on Tuesday.
She is charged with the murder of mother-of-three Nicola Gatland who was found in Eastham Road at 0100 GMT on 17 December.
The 40-year-old was taken to Worthing Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Ms Derekis entered no plea to the charge against her.
Judge Richard Brown remanded her in custody and ordered she face a further court hearing on 5 March.
