Couple scoop £1m jackpot
Lottery balls
The pair shared the win with five other people
Christmas has come early for a Gloucestershire couple who have won almost £1m on the National Lottery.

Gemma Jones and Stuart Meek, both 20 and living at home, say the £961,451 win will not change their plans for quiet family festivities.

Stuart, who lives in Cinderford, said the pair had already bought their presents before they found out about their win on Sunday.

Although they say there are no firm plans, Gemma is now considering studying marine biology in Australia, while Stuart is looking at a trip to the Grand Prix in Monaco with his father.

He said: "We will plod on as normal over Christmas. We will eat the same old thing, fall asleep on the sofa, and watch the same old programmes.

'Normal day'

"We might have a few more visitors than normal though."

Gemma, who lives in Gloucester, said: "We still can't believe it. We're definitely in shock.

"Afterwards, we carried on the day as normal and went to the garden centre.

"In the evening we went to our local pub but as we didn't have the money yet we didn't splash out."

The couple, who met 18 months ago, say they are determined to keep their feet firmly on the ground.

They shared the jackpot with five other winners.
