Pensioner mugger's sentence cut
Joyce Bryant
Mrs Bryant died two weeks after the attack
A Bristol drug addict found guilty of the manslaughter of a pensioner has had his sentence reduced.

Quanito Chudley, 21, was jailed for six and a half years earlier this month, after being convicted of robbery and manslaughter.

The recorder of Bristol, judge Tom Crowther, has now cut the sentence by a year, saying on balance he had over-sentenced Chudley.

Chudley and his partner Sara Drew, 19, were caught on CCTV approaching victim Joyce Bryant in Kingsdown, Bristol.

Ms Bryant, then aged 86, fell and broke her hip during the robbery in September 2002.

She died in hospital two weeks later.

Drew received a sentence of five years for manslaughter and robbery, which included a separate offence from the case involving Mrs Bryant.
