Gang threatens family
An armed gang is being hunted by police after they forced their way into a house in Merseyside.

The four men, who were armed with knives and a hammer, threatened a family in Huyton before stealing a "substantial" amount of cash and their maroon Volvo S40 car.

A couple and their son were in the house in Keswick Way when the break-in happened, at about 1845 GMT on Sunday.

On Tuesday, Merseyside Police appealed for witnesses to the break-in and anyone who has seen the Volvo, which the men escaped in.

Shaved head

The robbers left the owner with minor injuries, although his wife and son were unhurt during the incident.

Three of the men involved are all white and of medium build. One was about 5ft 11ins tall, with a shaved head. He spoke with a local accent and was armed with a knife.

A second man had black hair and was also armed with a knife. He was wearing a dark-coloured ski jacket that had the collar pulled up to cover his face.
