An inquiry is underway into the death of a man at the former KTH factory at Llanidloes.
Security guard Terrance John Smart, 43, from Newtown was pronounced dead inside the factory by a doctor after emergency services were called to the site on Monday afternoon.
A joint investigation between the Health and Safety Executive and Dyfed-Powys Police has been launched.
A police spokesman said the death was not being treated as suspicious.
An inquest was opened and adjourned on Tuesday afternoon.
Further tests are being conducted to try and find out the cause of death.
A post mortem examination is due to be carried out at Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth on Wednesday.
The car part factory, now owned by the Welsh Development Agency (WDA), closed in September with the loss of 250 jobs after a long fight to keep it open.
The factory was in the process of being decommissioned,
"At this stage the police and Health and Safety Executive are investigating the death and we will be liaising with them on their investigations," said a WDA spokesman.
