Racist attack on driver

An incident where a black driver was forced off the road in Hove and subjected to racial abuse has led to an appeal for information.

Sussex Police said the victim was driving along Kingsway and had a passenger in his car, when the couple received unwanted attention from the occupants of another vehicle.

The second car, which was a silver Peugeot, had tinted windows, alloy wheels and a body kit.

The couple, who were in a white Ford Fiesta, were chased into Grand Avenue and then forced off the road into Palmeira Avenue, where the driver was racially abused.

"Fearing for his safety, he sought refuge at a nearby police station," a police spokesman said.

"This was an unprovoked attack on a young couple," he added.
