Nearly £29.5m is to be spent improving transport links in north Nottinghamshire.
The cash pledged by Transport Secretary, Alistair Darling, will see a blueprint drawn up to develop better travel and transport in the county.
The so-called Local Transport Plan aims to provide alternatives to car travel and to help cut down on pollution and congestion.
Nottinghamshire County councillors say they wish to build on figures that suggested an increase in bus use across the county for the third year running.
Terry Butler, Councillor and Cabinet Member for the Environment said: "£29.5m will help us to deliver a better, safer and more flexible transport system to tackle the problems of congestion and pollution in north Nottinghamshire."
