Man denies ear biting attack
A Warwickshire man has appeared in court accused of biting a man's ear.

Michael Shirley, 35, from Royal Leamington Spa, pleaded not guilty on Monday to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Warwick Crown Court heard how police were called to an altercation that allegedly involved Mr Shirley, from Berenska Drive, Lillington, and 36-year old Mark Illingworth.

Mr Shirley is accused of biting Mr Illingworth's ear in Yardley Close, Warwick, in September, leaving the 36-year-old needing several stitches.

A request to have the case transferred to another venue was rejected.

The hearing was adjourned for trial early next year at Warwick Crown Court.

Mr Shirley was granted unconditional bail.
