£10,000 offered in murder case
Agnes Hanrahan
The 71-year-old may have opened the door to her attacker
Police investigating the murder of a Cheshire pensioner have offered a £10,000 reward.

The money will go to anyone who provides information which leads to a conviction of Agnes Hanrahan's killers.

Ms Hanrahan was last seen alive by a neighbour at about 1830 GMT on Monday, 8 December, at her home in Baguley Avenue, Widnes.

She was found dead with head and other injuries, by a relative.

Police do not believe anything was taken and there were no signs of forced entry.

Officers still want to trace a silver Ford Focus car which was seen parked nearby.

'Complex case'

Cheshire Chief Constable Peter Fahy said he hoped the cash reward would encourage new witnesses to come forward.

He said: "It is quite a complex case because it is quite clear that Agnes had a lot of contacts - friends and acquaintances - in the local area and so there are quite a lot of leads to follow.

"That's why we offered the reward because we do feel that the answer is probably quite close to home.

"There is no sign of a forced entry and there is reason to believe that Agnes may well have opened the door to her attacker."
