Man accused of attempted murder

Pc Guy Miller is in a serious but stable condition
A 19-year-old man has appeared in court charged with attempting to murder a traffic policeman.

Ricky Hales, from Deptford, south London, was remanded in custody a week ago after a policeman was allegedly run over with his patrol car in Kent.

Mr Hales is accused of attempted murder, causing grievous bodily harm with intent and taking a Volvo estate car.

Pc Guy Miller is still critical but stable in hospital following the incident at Kings Hill, near West Malling, on 10 December.

Mr Hales appeared before Maidstone Crown Court and spoke only to confirm his name.

He is due to return to court on 23 February.
