Couple bailed over man's death

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed to death in Cheltenham at the weekend.

The 53-year-old man was taken to hospital early on Saturday morning after being found with multiple stab wounds in Cromwell Road.

A 46-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man spent a day and a half in custody being questioned about the incident.

The couple have now been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Investigations are continuing and a team of forensics experts returned to the scene in Cromwell Road on Monday.

It is understood the man, who has not yet been named, suffered multiple stab wounds in at attack at around 0100 GMT on Saturday.

He was found, lying in a pool of blood, by a pedestrian.

The man was rushed by ambulance to Cheltenham General Hospital but died about two hours later.
