Car crash survivors 'stable'
Two men who were injured in a fatal car crash in County Durham are in a stable condition in hospital.

The pair, both aged 20, were passengers in a car which collided with a wooden post on Friday shortly after 2100 GMT in South View, Annfield Plain.

The driver, 17-year-old Lee Craggs from Annfield Plain, and John Gary Robson from Stanley, died in the collision.

The four had been out celebrating Mr Robson's 18th birthday.

The surviving passengers, who are both from Annfield Plain, are being treated at the University Hospital in Durham.

One has four broken ribs and a punctured lung and the other has fractures to both legs. Their injuries are not said to be life threatening.

Specialists from Durham Police's accident investigation unit are carrying out a detailed investigation of the crash.

It is not thought any other vehicle was involved.
